What we do
Most of our work is for advocates. Advocates send us voice dictation to type, case papers to translate into English from any Indian language, and drafts to write or review in English or Tamil.
Anyone can ask us for a legal notice, an affidavit, an agreement, a complaint or a letter to a government office. We also check property documents and contracts. The full list, with starting prices, is on our services page.
We work online only, by WhatsApp and phone, for people anywhere in India. There is no office to visit. You can talk to us in English, Tamil or Hindi.
What we do not do
- We are not a law firm, and we do not practise law.
- The Legal Works, as a company, does not give legal advice.
- Legal opinions and court filings are handled by independent enrolled advocates. Each advocate is responsible for their own opinion or filing.
- If your work needs an advocate, your quote names the advocate and gives their Bar Council enrolment number before you agree to anything.
- We do not promise any result. No one can promise how a court, an office or the other side will act.
- We are a private company. We are not part of any court or government office.
How quotes and payment work
Every job starts with a written quote on WhatsApp. It gives the price, what is included, and the date you get the work. Nothing is charged before you accept it.
After you accept the quote, we send a GPay payment request to your phone number for the exact amount, with a description of the work. Approve only that request.
We never ask for payment on a phone call, to a UPI ID or by QR code. If anyone does this in our name, do not pay, and tell us on WhatsApp at +91 90805 59910.
Prices on this website are starting prices. *Conditions apply. Your written quote is the final price. Our terms explain this in full.
Your documents
We never ask for your Aadhaar or PAN number. If a document you send shows one, cover the number before you send it.
We use your papers only for your work. We do not share them without your written permission. Our privacy policy explains who sees them and how long we keep them.
Editorial standards for our guides
Our guides explain common legal papers in plain words. These are the rules we follow when we write and update them.
- Who writes them. The Legal Works editorial team writes and checks every guide. Each guide carries the team's name, not a person's. Guides do not name or promote any advocate.
- AI tools. We use AI tools to research and draft guides. Every statute citation and figure is checked against its primary source before a guide is published or updated.
- Sources. We use primary sources only. These are Acts and rules as published on India Code, official gazettes, and court judgments. We do not take a point of law from blogs, news reports or other websites.
- Citations. Each guide names the Act and section, or the court and the case, behind its legal points. Before a guide goes live, we check each citation against the official text. We check the section number, any words we quote, and whether the law has been amended since.
- The date. Each guide shows a Last updated date under its title. We change that date only when we check the guide against its sources again or change what it says. When the law a guide covers changes, we check the guide again.
- Errors. If you find a mistake in a guide, tell us on WhatsApp at +91 90805 59910 or email grievance@thelegalworks.in. Name the guide and the line. We check the source, correct the guide if it is wrong, and change its date.
- Not legal advice. Guides are general information, not legal advice. They cannot cover the facts of your case. For your own case, talk to an advocate.
